What happens if my package is returned to the sender?

Edited

If your package is returned to our warehouse because it was unclaimed or undeliverable, here’s how the reshipment process works and what fees you may be responsible for.

Why was my package returned?

In most cases, packages are returned for the following reasons:

  • Unclaimed at local post office: The recipient did not pick up the package within the holding period.

  • Incorrect or incomplete address: The postal service could not complete the delivery.

  • Failure to pay customs duties or taxes: If the recipient fails to pay customs duties or taxes, the package may be returned to the sender.

  • Delivery failure notice not received: Sometimes, customers may not receive a notification from their local post office.

While FedEx and DHL typically contact us when they encounter delivery or customs issues, Japan Post and other national postal services (like USPS) do not notify us of failed delivery attempts, customs holds, or packages awaiting pickup or payment.

As a result, we may not be aware that your package is being held or delayed. We strongly recommend monitoring your tracking information closely and taking prompt action if any issue arises.

Return shipping fee

If your package is returned, the local postal carrier may apply a return shipping fee, which we are required to collect before proceeding with any reshipment.

This return shipping fee is separate from the fee required to reship your package back to your address.

Reshipping your package

Once we receive your returned package:

  1. We’ll repack your items securely.

  2. We will provide you with reshipping options and estimated shipping costs.

  3. You can then choose your preferred shipping method.

  4. After you confirm and pay the reshipping fee, we will promptly ship your package.

How to avoid return issues

To prevent similar issues in the future:

  • Double-check your shipping address during checkout.

  • Monitor tracking updates regularly after shipment.

  • Pay any customs duties or taxes promptly when notified.

  • Contact your local post office or customs office if a delivery seems delayed or requires your action.
